  • Mitzvah Corps: L’Dor V’Dor

    Going on the Mitzvah Corps of the American South six years ago was a truly transformative experience for me. I was 16, and didn’t know anyone else who would be on the program. I also hadn’t been to New Orleans or anywhere else in the Deep South before, and wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Even though I was nervous, I had completed many volunteer projects before and was excited for the opportunity to get my hands dirty while making the world a better place.

    Since entering high school, I’ve tried to remain as active as possible in Jewish life. As a Freshman, I joined my local Temple Youth Group (TYG) board and soon after, began attending regional NFTY events in the Garden Empire Region (GER). I was drawn to NFTY both because of how caring and open the community was, and because it gave me the opportunity to strengthen my Jewish identity alongside my peers.
