The field of direct service is vast, and teens have a variety of options to choose from when considering a summer program. So what makes the Mitzvah Corps experience unique?

Off the beaten path. Connect with local people and organizations in small communities around the world.

Short term programs. Find even just 8, 12, or 15 days to have a life changing experience that works around your schedule. Or mix and match for a summer full of opportunity.

Variety of issue focuses. We explore issues that are relevant today, so delve into a cause that inspires passion.

Diverse, yet like-minded, peers. Join forces with Jewish teens from around North America, with diverse backgrounds and experiences in travel, Judaism, and social action, but all of whom are looking to be challenged, to learn, and to make an impact.

More than just volunteering. Our holistic approach digs deeper, contextualizing issues and learning from local community members, so that the hands-on work is integrated into a social justice lifestyle.

Learn to ask questions. Hear personal stories, gain new perspectives, and understand the “why” behind everything.

Tap into the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) network. As a URJ Youth program, we provide access to our vast international network of resources both during and after the program.

Highly trained staff. Our diverse staff have backgrounds in experiential education, travel, social justice, and a variety of professional realms, and are well versed in the ways that Judaism plays a relevant and active role in their daily lives.

Community service hours. Earn between 40-160 documented community service hours.

Financial support. Our programs are eligible for the One Happy Camper grants up to $1000. We offer our own need-based scholarships, and will match funding from other sources.
